I was in Paris last month with my wife and daughter (great city, but, damn, too many museums to see in a week), and I visited several grocery stores in the 7th where we were staying. Needless to say, the prices for food (red meat included) didn’t strike me as expensive or “out of reach” for anybody. At all of the chains I visited (Leader-Price, Carrefour City and Franprix) the cost seemed reasonable, with Euros and US dollars just about at parity at that point. Not sure what they were talking about unless food has spiked in price since the election.
