... And he's no Thatcher:"Sarkozy talks right but rules left. Portrayals of him as a French Thatcher who will shake things up are vastly exaggerated," said one EU official in reference to the former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher. "He is, after all, French."
I feel so vindicated now, I think I'm gonna barf.

We were overly optimistic--slightly annoying American trait--when we first heard of Sarkozy, when we should have reminded ourselves, "He is, after all, French." ~ But this doesn't explain you, Frogman. There must be some evidence of other intelligent, witty, honorable Frenchmen out there. Yes? Hello? Anyone? Descendants of “Forces Françaises Libres” maybe?

I was luke warm on Sark to begin with. He is after all a Socialist, even if slightly right of Lenin. His proposed reforms sound good, then you skim below the surface and see no meat, all gravy. The business/labor situation is a cancer that is eating into most of Europe, and the appeasement of Islamic groups clamoring for Shar'ia is an accelorating problem that had best be quashed.
I do not see that happening with current gaggle politicians in EU, and especially France.
