Frogman, this one is a tad difficult, but I have to say I know Mr Knives. I have even read one of his books, 'Europe's Road to War', which is a pretty good assesment (given it is pre-9/11) of the parlousness of European policy and its drive to homoginistaion. But, I had no idea of this aspect to his vision. I can assure you I shall beard him when I next see him and see if there are any qualifications in his standpoint since that time.
But, and I say this advisedly, though a Frenchman, he refuses to see the death of France as a good thing, funnily enough I would have thought that in some ways you would agree, Soveriegnists are Not National Socialists. Most of those I kbnow are far from it. If anything they are the closest to Tories in the dungheap of Frennch politics. Yup they are French and do see themselves as a counterbalance to the US - but, and this is important, they are in no way socialist.
(As I say these comments about the middle east are new to me and I will have to check and recheck, but overall they are not the vermin that these quotes suggest).
