I appreciate you not refering to that jackass as a gunsmith. As I am a gunsmith, I would have been a bit insulted. That idiot broke either rule 3 or 4 of being a gunsmith.
1. Never alter a gun in an illegal manner, unless it's the end of the world. (i.e. converting semi-auto to full-auto)
2. Never alter a gun in a way that would decrease the value, unless the owner specifically requests otherwise. (The closer to factory condition, the more it is worth, even if damaged.)
3. Know your products! This way you can always give accurate information!
4. Never intentionally mislead a customer. Guns are specialized, make sure they get what they need, not what costs the most.
5. If you don't know how, don't agree to do the work!
