Not every brother and sister see Barry and Michelle as "Black" (something only Black Americans can be) -- the term "bosco" came up a lot during conversations with my brothers and sisters this summer -- sadly, they seem to be a minority. I would note that most of these Black folks didn't aim to be "African American" or "Black" -- they just were themselves; I think that's a more mentally healthy way to be -- affectations can become addictions, and then you're trapped.

And the interview nailed it -- the punk subculture is full of motorheads, greasers, cowpunks, rockabillys; these folks are not granola munching lefties, and most of them are pretty patriotic. And creative -- the mainstream stuff is so very conformist; the real action was taking place in the little out of the way spots, the bars, the clubs. How did you know it was cool? Because it didn't try to be; it just was itself.

And the Ramones rock! Always did, always will -- they were great in concert too; I turned my kids on to them and a few others when they got to be older teens...hey kids, this stuff will blow the doors off 50 Cent, Justin Timberlake, and the Spice Girls...you know, the vanilla flavored crap your buddies are tuned in to...
